Following a great start to the 2006 season in April in the glorious sunshine in Qatar, two back-to-back Stops are now just weeks away.
Paris / Enghiens-les-Bains in France comes first on June 16/18. The best Wakeboard Riders in the world are counting the days. Just ONE WEEK LATER both the Riders and Shortboarders continue on to Beijing in China. Logistically, this is a tough one for all concerned but with almost three years of World Cup globe trotting experience under the belt, this is a well honed crew !
The response from the Wakeboard Riders and Shortboard Skiers has been outstanding. Both events are fully subscribed and waiting lists are the order of the day. All need to accumulate maximum points in order to catch a major share of the record $780,000 Cash Prize purse this year.
The arrival of the super-star Riders Dallas Friday (USA) and Danny Harf (USA) at the Qatar Stop last month has really set the cat amongst the pigeons. With Louise Moore (GBR) and Phillip Soven (USA) fully in command of the top slots last year, the Paris / Enghiens-les-Bains Stop on April 16/18 will be both a battle of nerves and a serious battle for cash - with a lot more competition on the water ! Beijing will be an equally great World Cup spectacle. Both the current Shortboard IWSF World Champions will be present. Nicolas LeForestier (FRA) will want to recover his unlucky performance in the Arabian Gulf last month. Mandy Nightingale (USA) will also want to add the title of World Cup Champion to her World Champion performance of last year. Skiers from eleven countries have already taken every available slot in China. The Wakeboard Riders will also have to recover quickly from the tough competition expected in Paris. Taking the titles of World Cup Champion is a real test of the very best athletes in the World.
